CIM UC CORMA was created as an interdisciplinary innovation hub through an alliance between the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the Chilean Wood Corporation (CORMA), and has taken on the challenge of developing in Chile the full potential of being a forest country, strengthening the qualities of wood as a highly versatile, eco-friendly, technological, durable, and noble material. It seeks to develop collaborative projects with public and private stakeholders that make it possible to modernize and industrialize construction processes, thereby expanding the market and productivity, improving quality standards, and significantly reducing construction times, which in turn enables unit costs to be reduced in a sustainable manner.
The Center’s overall objective is to conduct research and develop wood-based construction solutions, in order to disseminate and promote innovative, high-quality solutions using domestic wood as the main element, in collaboration with leading national and international stakeholders, creating value and demonstrating to the community the opportunities that arise in relation to the development of this industry.
Inspired by research and innovation, we aim to be an interdisciplinary Center that develops research, knowledge transfer, and the promotion of timber construction, and addresses the main technological challenges the sector presents.
