The Center for Innovation in Wood (CIM) was established as an interdisciplinary innovation hub through a partnership between the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) and the Chilean Wood Corporation (CORMA). The center aims to advance Chile’s potential as a forestry nation by promoting wood as a versatile, ecological, technological, durable, and high-quality material.
The center’s overall objective is to conduct research and develop wood-based construction techniques to disseminate and promote innovative, high-quality solutions using domestic timber as the main element, in collaboration with leading national and international stakeholders. Inspired by research and innovation, we aim to be an interdisciplinary center that develops research, knowledge transfer, and the promotion of timber construction, while addressing the main technological challenges the sector presents and creating value and demonstrating to the community the opportunities that arise in relation to the development of this industry.
