Doctoral Program in Architecture and Urban Studies

The PhD program in Architecture, Design, and Urban Studies was created to train qualified researchers capable of addressing the challenges related to territory, landscape, the city, architecture, and design. With the objective of developing skills for original research on complex problems from an interdisciplinary perspective, the program fosters a diversity of approaches and methodological tools, critical thinking, and the sustainability and careful management of processes and policies. Doctoral graduates make significant contributions to theoretical, historical, representational, and/or design fields.

Master’s Programs

MARQ: Master of Architecture

MARQ: Master of Architecture

The UC Master in Architecture Program (MARQ) is aimed at graduates in architecture and related fields prepared to undertake an advanced program lasting 3 semesters full-time or 5 semesters part-time. Established in 1991, the program currently seeks to ensure that its students have the capacity to formulate projects that critically recognize the conditions of the contemporary world, understanding architecture as an extended cultural field that intersects at its margins with other disciplines.

MPUR: Master in Urban Project

MPUR: Master in Urban Project

The UC Master in Urban Project (MPUR) operates at the intersection between architecture and urban planning. Driven by an increasing demand for urban project experts, this program was created to train professionals from academia, as well as the public and private sectors, who work in this field, which extends beyond the traditional scope of architecture due to its complexity of scales and its dialogue with other disciplines.

MAPA: Master in Landscape Architecture

MAPA: Master in Landscape Architecture

The UC Master in Landscape Architecture (MAPA) is an in-person postgraduate program offered by the School of Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with a dual academic and professional focus. This program is designed to strengthen research and project competencies in landscape architecture by applying design concepts, methods, and tools to address urban, ecological, and sociocultural issues across various scales and territorial contexts.

MAPC: Master in Cultural Heritage

The UC Master’s in Cultural Heritage, based at the School of Architecture, is affiliated with four university faculties: the Faculty of Engineering; the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Urban Studies; the Faculty of History, Geography, and Political Science; and the Faculty of Arts. Conceived as an interdisciplinary program, the MAPC addresses heritage, both material and immaterial, through a comprehensive vision that encompasses its study, conservation, preservation, and the promotion of sustainable practices.

The UC Master in Urban Development (MDU) examines the spatial, sociocultural, economic, and political processes that shape the contemporary city at different scales, to address the challenges of planning and governance related to urban and territorial development.

MAC: Master of Construction Management

The UC Master of Construction Management (MAC) is the result of a joint effort between the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture UC, as well as the Chilean Chamber of Construction, seeking to train professionals capable of leading complex projects with strategic vision and excellence in management.

The UC Master in Urban Planning (MPU) from the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies (IEUT) provides professional training, both theoretical and practical, specialized in urban planning, policy, and management, with an interdisciplinary perspective that promotes a comprehensive vision of urban processes and impacts.
