The Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS) is a Research Center that promotes discussion about the cities of our country and their sustainable development processes. Its main objective is to understand urban dynamics, instruments, and decision-making processes that enable equitable and sustained improvements in people’s quality of life, through recognition of the biophysical limits and social demands of Chilean cities.

CEDEUS is an initiative that brings together leading researchers in their field who seek to contribute, in an interdisciplinary manner, to the challenges of research, human capital training, and engagement with society in the area of Sustainable Urban Development.

The center is made up of three institutions: the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC) as the Sponsoring institution; the University of Concepción (UdeC) as the Associated institution; and, as an international collaborator, the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CSUD) at Columbia University in the United States.

CEDEUS is a Center of Excellence in Research, funded by CONICYT through its FONDAP Program (CONICYT/FONDAP 15110020).
