With one of the largest collections of artificial light sources for teaching the fundamental concepts of electric lighting, and an extensive specialized library of books, catalogues, and journals, the Lighting Laboratory is considered one of the most comprehensive in the country. Its main function is to develop hands-on activities and experiments with light; it brings together lamps, luminaires, measuring instruments, auxiliary electrical equipment, and lighting control systems. It is available for use by the Faculty’s students and teaching staff, who may carry out empirical tests that complement and deepen their knowledge, and design and develop new products and/or lighting design strategies. Thanks to the team of professionals working in the Laboratory, lighting consulting is provided for academic projects and external services. The Lighting Laboratory is available to the Faculty’s teaching staff and students, whether in undergraduate, continuing education, or postgraduate programmes.
