FADEU Work in Progress [WiP]

FADEU Work in Progress [WiP] is the first interdisciplinary exhibition of the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Urban Studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. The exhibition is framed within the UC and FADEU Dean’s Office initiative ‘Promotion of Interdisciplinarity,’ and aims to foster dialogue between architecture, design, and art, showcasing ‘work in evolution.’ This highlights the importance of the conceptual ideas and critical reflections behind the exhibited works.

-Every two years, the exhibition defines a working theme, focusing on topics of national and global interest. Through this exhibition, we thus embrace the challenge of reflecting on and contributing to the discussion of the current landscape, recognizing its multiple facets from a creative approach associated with interdisciplinary cross-pollination.

-The exhibition aims to highlight creative processes as a common foundation for architecture, design, and art. Beyond the finished object or work, the focus is on the processes of thought and critical reflection (graphic, spatial, visual, etc.) that evolve and transform to ultimately result in a completed work or one in continuous construction.

-The works correspond to original creations by their authors and will be exhibited, emphasizing the development and evolution of collaborative work.

-Considering that the creative process is in itself ‘work,’ ‘reflection,’ and ‘research,’ the fundamental objectives of FADEU Work in Progress [WiP] are:
a) To promote interdisciplinary collaboration among artistic disciplines and generate reflection on the intersection of creative processes.
b) To enhance teamwork among professors, students, and professionals from the three participating disciplines (architects, artists, and designers).
c) To exhibit creative processes that also constitute a learning environment, bridging the boundaries between architecture, design, and art.
d) To develop new ideas and proposals that contribute to the annual theme under development.
